Zgharta District

The district of Zgharta ( Arabic قضاء زغرتا, DMG Qaḍāʾ Zaġartā ) is a district in the Lebanese Governorate of Northern Lebanon . The district has about 50,000 inhabitants, its area amounts to about 182 km².

The district is made up of its administrative center Zgharta and a number of smaller towns. The district extends into the high mountains of Lebanon . The majority of the population in the district are Maronites ; Greek Orthodox and Sunni Muslims belong to the minority with others.
