Middle and measure
The book of middle and measure ( Chinese 中庸 , Pinyin Zhōng Yōng ) is one of the four books that Zhu Xi had declared to be the fundamental works of Confucianism . It is a section of the Book of Rites .
His authorship is traditionally attributed to Zisi ( 子思 , Zǐsī ), a grandson of Confucius, but this is controversial.
The Zhong Yong consists of two parts with a total of 33 chapters.

The main content is the discussion of the golden path ( dao ), which is determined by a mandate from heaven and enables everyone to lead a virtuous life in the Confucian sense. Whoever follows this path becomes a noble ( 君子 , junzi ).
