Zhouwen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Zhouwen ( Chinese  籀文 , Pinyin zhòuwén ), also Zhoushu ( Chinese  籀 書  /  籀 书 ), describes an ancient style of writing used in the time of the Zhou dynasty (周朝). The term is usually equated with the large seal script ( Chinese  大篆 , Pinyin dàzhuàn ).

Its name comes from the fact that the script was used in the dictionary Shizhoupian ( Chinese  史 籀 篇 , Pinyin Shǐzhòupiān ).
