The Ziegelteich is an approx. 0.7 hectare brick pond in Hamburg-Stellingen near the B4 and the S-Bahn line . It is located at the Ziegelgraben playground.
The pond has been fenced off since the 1980s because it was previously used for swimming and the water is too polluted. It has a forecourt, which is separated from the main pond by a barrier.
The street Am Ziegelteich is named after him.
Emergence
Around 1880 the Altona masonry master Friedrich Kallmorgen (1819–1891, grandfather of Werner Kallmorgen ) laid out a brick factory . The brickworks were shut down during the First World War . The brick pond is the remainder of the clay pit that was up to 37 meters deep at the time.
Tributaries
According to city maps, the Ziegelteich has two tributaries, both of which flow into the northern part of the fore basin and some have further tributaries:
- Ziegelgraben, rises in the northern part of the spring road to the west of it, completely cased
- Side ditch, rises west of Kieler Straße and is piped up to the last section in the park at Ziegelteich
- Hexengraben, completely cased, also rises to the west of Kieler Strasse, and is also connected to the side ditch via another, unnamed ditch
However, further tributaries can be seen at the pond, but they cannot be found on city maps.
