Target point (geodesy)

As target points or minutiae points in are surveying each of an instrument store ( theodolite is measured) points respectively. The point determination is mainly done by polar imaging (by means of direction and distance).

Even if target points are directly visible from the measuring instrument , they are usually marked with a measuring stick by the measuring assistant . It carries a laser reflector for electronic distance measurement . If the height is also determined, the so-called target height above the ground point must be taken into account.
