Destination point (road design)
In road design, the destination point is a point in space to which the driver's line of sight (starting from the eye point ) is directed. It is an important parameter when planning and checking the visibility of roads. In Switzerland this parameter is also called the end point .
The road construction guidelines define the distance to the eye point and the height of the target point above the road. In Germany, for example, the target point height is either 0.50 meters (autobahn) or 1.00 meters (outside of autobahns) above the road.
