Zimbabwe Saints FC is a Zimbabwean football club from Bulawayo .
history
The club is one of the oldest clubs in Zimbabwe . It was founded in 1931. In the 1970s the club was renamed Mashonaland United FC. It is not known exactly when the renaming was in Zimbabwe Saints FC. The club won the Rhodesia National Football League and Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League in 1977 and 1988 . Roy Baretto , who scored the most goals of the season with 23 goals, played a major role in the second title . In 1977, 1979 and 1987 the club won the cup competition. In 2009 the club merged with Njube Sundowns FC. The merger was dissolved in 2011. In 1989 the club was able to play in the CAF Champions Leaguereach the quarterfinals. So far it was the only participation in the African football competitions.
