The civil contingent in Germany is generally a public invitation to unknown interested parties to register claims or rights .

In inheritance law , this is a judicial procedure according to the German Civil Code (BGB) , with which the scope of the estate liabilities is to be determined. To this end, the creditors of the estate are publicly requested to register their claims . After a deadline, the court will issue an exclusion order. If creditors of the estate have not reported by the deadline, they can only demand satisfaction from the estate.

In marriage law there is a state and a church mandate . Both serve to publicly announce an intended marriage to determine any legal or canonical obstacles to marriage . A public notice of the civil banns have been around since the repeal of the marriage law no longer on July 1, 1998th
