Zoblitz-Lodenau

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Zoblitz-Lodenau was a municipality in the Prussian-Silesian district of Rothenburg (Ob. Laus.) , Which existed from 1938 to 1945.

The community on the Lusatian Neisse came into being on April 1, 1938, when Lodenau on the left side of the Neisse and Zoblitz on the right side of the Neisse were merged. Both parts of the community were connected by a bridge.

In 1939 there were about 1150 inhabitants in the municipality, whereas six years earlier the two previous municipalities had a total of 900 inhabitants.

When, after the end of the Second World War, the border between Germany and Poland was drawn along the Lusatian Neisse, Zoblitz was on the Polish side and was given the name Sobolice. Lodenau became an independent municipality again and after 130 years came back to the state of Saxony with the western part of the district.
