List of bombs by country of origin

The zoobin (in German: arrow) is an electro-optically guided glide bomb . It was developed by Iran and has a solid rocket propulsion system. Due to its design, the range of the missile depends on the altitude and the speed of the carrier system .

History of origin

This ammunition is Iran's first generation of air-powered bombs developed by the missile manufacturers of the Iranian Ministry of Defense. The Zoobin is a rocket-powered weapon that combines the same electro-optical guidance package as the Qadr flight bomb with a 750-pound warhead. The zoobin's bomb body is based on the US free-fall bomb M117 , which was bought in before the Iranian revolution and the associated US sanctions. The development of Iranian guided bombs began during the Iran-Iraq war in the 1980s, in the final phase this bomb was used sporadically. The operational experience is said to have led to an improvement in the zoobin in the 1990s.
