Overview

The Caricuao Zoological Garden , in Spanish Parque Zoológico Caricuao , is located in the municipality of Caricuao near Caracas . It opened in 1977 and is 630 hectares in size.

Ruperta , a female African elephant who was a symbol of the Venezuelan supply crisis of the 2010s, lived in the zoo until his death in 2018 .
