Zorro (computer game)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Zorro is a platform game developed by Datasoft for one player with puzzle and adventure elements . It was released in 1985 for Atari 800 , C64 , Schneider / Amstrad CPC and Apple II . Such a genre mix was something completely new at the time, especially for the Atari 800 .

Game content

The player embodies Zorro and has to use found objects elsewhere in order to save his girlfriend at the end, who is kidnapped by a Spanish soldier at the beginning. Other patrolling Spanish soldiers act as opponents, as is typical of the genre.

Levels / graphics

It is a platformer (multi-screen). The game mainly takes place above ground, with a predominantly yellow desert background, later a cave is added. The animation of black Zorros with the long sword was received positively. He can climb ladders and palm trees and, like in The Goonies (also from Datasoft), has to solve many puzzles. In the beginning, the fights mainly take place on the house facade, on several floors.

programmer

The programmer was James Baron, the graphic artist Kelly Day. The atmospheric SID music was written by John A. Fitzpatrick.
