Datasoft, Inc. was an American video game distributor founded by Pat Ketchum on June 12, 1980 in Chatsworth , California . In 1984 it was sold to Samuel L. Poole and Ted Hoffman, who from then on marketed Datasoft games with the addition of IntelliCreations . Software Toolworks took over the company in August 1988 and shortly thereafter initiated its processing.
Datasoft published mainly arcade ports until 1983 and then around 20 other games for various home computers. Adaptations of well-known films and TV programs such as Bruce Lee and The Dallas Quest contributed significantly to the success of Datasoft . But the ambitious role-playing game series Alternate Reality by Philip Price, distributed by Datasoft , was also very popular. In Europe, the games were marketed by US Gold .
Some of the most popular games published by Datasoft include:
- Alternate Reality: The City and Alternate Reality: The Dungeon
- Bruce Lee
- Conan: Hall of Volta
- Dallas Quest
- Goonies
- Gunslinger
- Lancelot
- Pooyan
