Zsako muscle phenomenon

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Zsako muscle phenomenon is a mechanical excitability of the skeletal muscles that occurs 1.5 to 2.5 hours after death and is therefore a suitable method for determining the time of death .

It can be checked by hitting the percussion hammer in the area of the interossei muscles above the back of the hand. Finger adduction occurs. On the anterior thigh muscles, hitting the lower third causes the kneecap to be pulled up and on the muscles between the shoulder blades it causes the shoulder blades to come closer.
