Gaius Septimius Severus Aper

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gaius Septimius Severus Aper was a Roman politician and senator who lived at the beginning of the 3rd century.

Like Emperor Septimius Severus, Aper came from Leptis Magna and was probably a son of the suffect consul of 153 Publius Septimius Aper . In 207 he was full consul with Lucius Annius Maximus ; this is evidenced by military diplomas dated March 30 and October 20, 207. Aper is possibly the Afer named in the Historia Augusta , who was executed at the end of 211/212 on the orders of Emperor Caracallas .
