Access software

Under access software refers to computer programs used by providers are made available to allow convenient to their customers access to their dial-up points.

In most cases, such programs can only run under the Microsoft Windows operating system and only allow access to the provider who makes the software available.

A prominent example of access software are the provider of AOL in the watering process brought to the people CD-ROMs are. (See also the project No more AOL CDs )

Some dialers also disguise themselves as access software.
