History and sights

The spring socket (built 1874/75) of the Fürstenbrunn spring
Ball mill in Fürstenbrunn

The name is derived from the role of the drinking water source on the Untersberg . This spring version of one of the three tributaries of the Glan has existed in its current form since 1875. It was used by the Stadtwerke ( Salzburg AG ) for the drinking water supply of the city of Salzburg until the late 20th century , today this is only done via a little further east in Glanegg groundwater well.

Fürstenbrunn is known for the Untersberg Museum with its marble ball mill , its marble quarries ( Untersberg marble since Celtic-Roman times with processing plants in the municipality of Oberalm ). Glanegg Palace is on the hill northeast of Fürstenbrunn .

Fürstenbrunn is the end point of the Untersberg ski slope, which is accessible from the Untersbergbahn cable car from Grödig to the Geiereck ( 1805  m above sea level , pre-summit of the Salzburger Hochthron ) - from here you can take the shuttle bus back to the valley station in St. Leonhard (Grödig municipality ) .

At the northern foot of the Untersberg is the Armed Forces shooting range Glanegg .

The place is in the form of an enclave in the middle of the Untersberg landscape protection area  ( LSG 51 ), which means that there are strict building restrictions so that it will retain its natural location in the future.

Culture

Fürstenbrunn is the seat of the well-known Krampus group Fürstenbrunner Dorcha Pass , which goes through the community with St. Nicholas on December 5th and 6th year after year and visits the children.
