Reichenhall basin

The Reichenhall basin , also Bad Reichenhall basin, is an alpine basin with the eponymous city of Bad Reichenhall in the center. The German part of the basin lies in the middle of the Berchtesgadener Land district ( Upper Bavaria ) and its Austrian part in the municipality of Großgmain in the Salzburg Flachgau region . The basin lies between the Berchtesgaden Alps and the Chiemgau Alps and is framed by mountain ranges. It opens to the east to the Salzburg basin .

The area includes the city of Bad Reichenhall and the municipalities of Bayerisch Gmain , Piding in Bavaria and the municipality of Großgmain in the state of Salzburg.
