A delivery system is a system for delivering postal deliveries via a system that is accessible to the public. This type of delivery was widespread in the GDR , especially in rural areas.

It consisted of post boxes for letters and press products for the individual households in an area and larger parcel boxes that could be loaded as required .

You had access via a key for the mailbox. If necessary, the key for the parcel box could be found next to the post office.

Deutsche Post currently operates similar delivery systems under the label Landpostkasten for properties far from public roads, particularly in rural areas .
