Authorized recipient

An authorized recipient is a person specially authorized to receive deliveries .

This can be any person in legal transactions. Rules of procedure expressly stipulate the appointment of an authorized recipient, in practice these are often lawyers and notaries .

In civil proceedings , the court can order this separately in accordance with Section 184 (1) of the Code of Civil Procedure .

In criminal proceedings , for example, an offender without a permanent residence in Germany must name a person with a domestic residence to the law enforcement authority or the police as an authorized recipient ( Section 132 (1) (2 ) Code of Criminal Procedure ).

The granting of power of attorney represents a declaration of intent . It must generally be made in writing.
