The Congregation of the Diocesans Befers van Overijse-Mechelen is a Catholic women's order , which was created on April 15, 1967 from a merger of the Befers van Liefde of Dochters van Maria van Mechelen, Augustinessen Zwartstaers van Mechelen and the Dochters van de Onbevlekte Ontvangenis van Overijse. Since the three communities had nothing in common and thus also lost all identification, she soon got into a serious crisis and many of the sisters left. The new congregation found its tasks in the school system, nursing, other social services and pastoral care. In 1967 the Congregation of Episcopal Law still had 180 sisters in 14 houses, in 1996 they were still active in their mother house in Overijse, as well as in the branch monasteries in Overijse, Mechelen and Belaar. In 1998 they were around 40 sisters.
