Forced union
Forced union refers to the amalgamation of several groups, at least one of which does not participate voluntarily. In the case of political parties there were a. the following compulsory associations:
- the forced unification of the SPD and KPD to form the SED in the Soviet occupation zone of Germany in 1946
- the forced merger of PPR and PPS into PZPR in Poland in 1948
- the forced merger of the SZDP and MKP to form the MDP in Hungary in 1948
- the forced merger of PCR and PSD to form PMR in Romania in 1948
