description
Shape and head
With the exception of size, the dwarf Araucana corresponds to its large form, the Araucana chicken. The trunk in an upright position is well rounded on all sides. The broad shoulders and the moderately long back contribute to this. The cock's rear body without tail plumage is, however, quite wide due to its full and dense saddle plumage. The front shows the broad, slightly bulging chest. The belly region is well developed, especially in the laying hen. The stance is medium high due to the strong thighs and the fine-bony legs. The wings must not protrude over the body. Irregular pea comb, red ear lobes. Three forms of head fletching:
- a) feather tassels (tuffs, pompons) on the side of the head,
- b) pronounced whiskers without tassels,
- c) with feather tassel and beard.
Red to orange eyes.
