İmişli (Rayon)
İmişli , also Imishli , is a rayon in eastern Azerbaijan . The capital of the district is the city of İmişli . The area borders Iran in the south .
geography
The rayon has an area of 1826 km². The rivers Aras and Kura flow through the area, and Lake Sarisu is also located here . The area west of the macaw belongs to the Mugan steppe , the area east to the Mil steppe . Larger parts of the area are below sea level.
population
In 2009, the rayon had 113,800 inhabitants. These are spread across the capital and 51 other places.
economy
In the region mainly grain and cotton are grown and cattle are raised. There are larger oil reserves, production facilities for building materials and gin.
