history

The beginnings

The first jersey

In 1917, some young Aretians (including Giuliattini, Troianis, Pichi, Livi, Stocchi, Pignatelli, Marcucci, Baratti) began to set up a football team; they named their team: Società football aretina (abbreviated Sfa), as the club colors they chose azure blue and white. Almost at the same time, another football team was formed in another Aretine district, it was called Pro Arezzo Esperia and had red and black jerseys.

These two teams merged on September 10, 1923 to form the Juventus FBC Arezzo , the name was suggested by two players (the Arpino brothers) who were fans of Juventus Turin. At that time, Giuseppe Giannini was in charge of the majority of the association's fortunes, he acted as president, trainer, accountant, secretary and also as an electrician. The players of the Juventus FBC Arezzo earned nothing at that time, in the absence of sponsors they even had to pay a monthly membership fee of 50 Centesimi , so that the trip to away games could be financed.

First successes (1924 to 1935)

In 1924, the club took part in the IV Division of Tuscany for the first time in an official championship. In the same year, the Juventus FBC Arezzo won the Coppa Livi , while they prevailed against the two Aretine soccer teams Subbiano (result 1: 0) and Castiglionese (result 3: 0). As a result, the team also won the Trofeo Melloni on August 12, 1924 ; in Florence they defeated Porta Romana.

A short time later, Esperia Juventus FBC Arezzo, founded in Arezzo in 1918, joined the club, and Etruria joined the club in the following year, and together they started a new season in the IV division of Tuscany. At the end of the 1926/27 season, Juventus FBC Arezzo finished in second place, behind Borgo San Lorenzo , in the decider that was played in Viareggio against Pietrasanta , they successfully prevailed. After the two teams split 0-0 in the first game (Juventus FBC Arezzo played with only eight men for almost the entire game, due to two injuries and a red card), they won the second game 3-0. Thus Arezzo rose for the first time in its young history.

During that time, the fans of Juventus FBC Arezzo developed a new fan song. This read: Noi abbiamo le gambe alate ed il calcio in gol sicuro. Noi siamo dell'Arezzo dell'Arezzo FBC Hip. Hip. Hooray! Noi siamo dell'Arezzo che semper vincerà! (Eng. Our legs are winged and the ball is in the goal. We belong to Arezzo to Arezzo FBC Hip. Hip. Hurray! We belong to Arezzo that will always win! ).

In the following season 1927/28 Juventus FBC Arezzo won their group in the III Division of Tuscany by six points. Since you could prevail in the playoffs, the team rose again. At the end of the season the club colors were changed to yellow and black. As a result, the club was able to sign two players from another club for the first time. In the 1929/30 season you could classify yourself in group F of the II Division of Tuscany in ninth place.

On September 9, 1930, the club was renamed US Arezzo . In 1931 the club was promoted to the Division I of Tuscany where it now on well-known opponents such as Grosseto , Ancona Calcio , Robur Siena (now AC Siena ), Ascoli Calcio and also the most hated among followers of Arezzo team, the AC Perugia , met . However, the club was only able to stay there for two years and was relegated again in 1933. In the 1933/34 season, the US Arezzo played for the first time in the newly opened Stadio G. Mancini . In 1934, the new stadium received a special honor: it served as a destination for a stage of the Giro d'Italia .

From 1935 to 2010

US Arezzo was included in the newly formed Series C in 1935. The club had to leave the club in 1952, but returned in 1958. After that, the club always remained at least third class until its dissolution in 2010.

In 1966, 1969, 1982 and 2004 the promotion to the second-rate Serie B succeeded . The club played there for a total of 16 years, see the series B eternal table . The 1983/84 season ended in 5th place in the table, which has remained the club's highest ranking in Serie B to this day. In 2006, 7th place was reached, the last relegation took place a year later in 2007, 20th place .

Established in 2010

After the 2009-10 season, the fourth place in the Lega Pro Prima Divisione was completed (Girone A), the association for the missed promotion to which was Serie B due to financial problems excluded from the game and in the fifth rate series D classified . In July 2010 the club was re-established as ASD Atletico Arezzo and again classified in the fifth class Serie D.
