history

The association was founded in 1919 after the end of the First World War by twelve founding members as ARB Wüflingen . During these years cycling experienced a boom in workers' sport and various sections of the Arbeiter-Touring-Bund were founded in and around Winterthur, Wülflingen was one of them, the first president was Heiri Frei, who held this office until 1926 - his successor was the previous one Actuary Arthur König. The association took part at this time at various exits and championships in the district, from 1930 was also round trips participated. With the outbreak of the Second World War in the autumn of 1939, the round trip was stopped again and the membership was 38 active and 10 young people.

After the end of the war, however, the population quickly recovered and by the end of 1945 the association had 90 members again, and the name was changed to ATB Wülflingen. In 1947 the club had over 100 members for the first time and another 36 juniors, but competitions were still not contested. In 1955, the club was able to achieve a federal championship title in orienteering and off-road driving for the first time, and afterwards there was more training, so that in 1957, for the first time since the outbreak of the World War, all indoor sports events were contested. In 1966, 6 unicycles were bought for the first time and from then on this sport was practiced. In 1979 the round riders were able to win the association festival in the categories “6er head tube”, “6er Steiger” and “6er unicycle”. From 1981 onwards there was not only competition in artificial cycling, but also in the round rider according to new regulations, so that the ATB athletes competed for the Swiss championship title. In 1992 in Bassersdorf the ATB Wülflingen succeeded in this feat in the women's 4 and 6.

Most recently, in the new millennium, Fabienne Gamper and her team partner Rahel Nägele from ATB Uzwil were able to qualify for the 2014 World Championships in the Czech Republic in 2-man cycling and finished in 5th place. On October 4, 2015, Carmen Reymond, together with her team partner Sahra Walter of the free cyclist from Klettgau Löhningen, set the current Swiss record in women's two-man artificial cycling with 126.91 points.

Since the merger of the ATB Winterthur with the cycling section of the RV Winterthur to the cycling club Winterthur in 2012, the ATB Wülflingen is the last of the former seven sections of the ATB in the Winterthur urban area.
