history
Name origin from the Celtic ( Atanate , Atanat , Attnat ). The name means swamp (located on the water).
Adnet was first mentioned in 741 in the certificate of delivery from the Bavarian Duke Odilo to the Maximilianszelle in Bischofshofen .
In 1758 the first school was opened in the sacristan's house. In 1856 Adnet became an independent parish. In 1890 there was a big fire in Adnet in which the church, 6 houses and 14 outbuildings were destroyed. Damage of 100,000 guilders was caused. Although the baroque interior of the church was not completely destroyed, it was decided to completely rebuild the church in the neo-Gothic style.
1909–1914 the Wiestalkraftwerk was built in Adnet. This created many new jobs and Adnet was connected to the power grid. After 1945, Adnet became a residential community and the number of residents doubled.
