Al Joyner

Alfredrick Joyner (born January 19, 1960 in East St. Louis ( Illinois )) is a former American triple jumper and Olympic champion .

Al Joyner is the older brother of the equally successful track and field athlete Jackie Joyner-Kersee and became the first US triple jump Olympic champion in 80 years at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles . In the same year he married Florence Griffith-Joyner , with whom he has a daughter. In a competition in 1987 he achieved his best performance of 17.53 m.

Since the death of his wife in 1998, he has been chairman of the Flo Jo Community Empowerment Foundation. He is also the owner and managing director of a marketing company. Since 2000 Joyner has been training the long jump women's team at the University of California, Los Angeles .

In 2003 he married Alisha Biehn, with whom he now has a son and a daughter.
