Alma Lusa

Alma Lusa was a Portuguese band that was formed specifically for the Eurovision Song Contest .

The band members were: Inês Santos ( vocals ), Carlos Jesus ( Portuguese guitar ), Henrique Lopes ( percussion ), Carlos Ferreirinha ( cavaquinho ), Pedro Soares ( bagpipe ) and José Cid ( accordion ).

Thanks to a jury vote, the group prevailed against eight competitors at the 1998 Festival da Canção and was therefore allowed to compete for their home country at the 1998 Eurovision Song Contest in Birmingham . With the folkloric hit Se eu te pudesse abraçar they reached 12th place. After the competition the group broke up.
