Arsala Rahmani

Arsala Rahmani ; Pashtun ارسلا رحماني; (* 1937 - May 13, 2012 in Kabul ) was an Afghan politician and Prime Minister of his country in 1994/95 .

Life

Rahmani was commander of the Mujahid in the Afghan Soviet war . He was Prime Minister during the Afghan Civil War in 1994/95. He was later deputy minister of education and deputy chairman of the Islamist group Chuddamul Furqan for political affairs. Most recently he was also a member of the High Peace Council and an important advisor to President Hamid Karzai .

Rahmani was shot dead by unknown perpetrators while driving to a meeting with government officials in Kabul. In September 2011, the then head of the High Peace Council, Burhānuddin Rabbāni , was killed in a suicide attack.
