Axel William Patricksson (born September 5, 1992 ) is a former Norwegian ski racer . He started for Ingierkollen og Rustad SL KL and was especially successful in the giant slalom .

biography

Patricksson contested his first FIS races in his home country in November 2007 , but initially had no significant successes. In February 2010 he reached his first podium in a FIS giant slalom in Voss with third place, the first victory followed two years later in the same place in the giant slalom. At the end of 2013 he was used three times in the European Cup , but just like in his subsequent three appearances in January 2015, he was unable to classify himself in the points.

After Williamsson was able to improve significantly in the giant slalom at the end of winter 2014/15, he has been used regularly in the European Cup since the 2015/16 season . On December 5th, 2015, he won the first points in this racing series with 17th place in the giant slalom in Trysil , which he followed the next day with 5th place, the first result in the top 10. On January 12, 2016, he was 3rd in the giant slalom from Folgaria - Lavarone on the European Cup podium for the first time. After two further podium places in the European Cup, he was nominated for the giant slalom in Garmisch-Partenkirchen on January 31, 2016 for the first time for a World Cup race , which, however, could not take place due to bad weather conditions. Less than a month later, on February 26, 2016, he finally made his World Cup debut at the giant slalom in Hinterstoder , where he immediately finished 20th. On March 16, 2016, he celebrated his only victory in the European Cup in the giant slalom in La Molina . With second place in the overall giant slalom ranking, he was able to secure a permanent place in the Alpine Ski World Cup for the 2016/17 season .

Patricksson could not use his fixed position in all races because he injured himself during training in December 2017 and had to take a break for the rest of the season. After that, he only started twice in the World Cup. There were no successes and he couldn't draw attention to himself in the European Cup either. At the end of March 2019, he announced the end of his career on Instagram.
