history

The station was opened on June 15, 1868 as the provisional terminus of the Donaueschingen– Immendingen section of the Black Forest Railway. On August 6, 1869, the route to Villingen was extended. On October 18, 1892, the Donaueschingen – Hüfingen line was completed, and the station became a separation station. At the same time, the station became the seat of a railway foreman and the capacity was expanded with additional tracks. On August 20, 1901, the Höllentalbahn from Donaueschingen to Neustadt , where the line connected to the existing line via Titisee to Freiburg , went into operation. In 1902 the station building was torn down and replaced by a new building. A large part of the railway facilities, including the station building, was destroyed in the Second World War. Therefore, after the war, it was decided to build a new building, which was completed in 1959.
