The Hamburg-Ohlsdorf station is a transfer station for the Hamburg S-Bahn with lines S1 and S11 and the Hamburg U-Bahn - line U1 in the Ohlsdorf district . The stop is used by at least 20,000 passengers every day (as of 2001) and is one of the larger ones in the Hamburg rapid transit network. For this purpose, the Hamburg-Ohlsdorf depot of the Hamburg S-Bahn is located in Ohlsdorf, where the S-Bahn trains are serviced and parked. At Ohlsdorf train station there are the stops Im Grünen Grund (172, 174 and 274), Alsterdorfer Straße (179 and 172), Fuhlsbüttler Straße (39, 172, 179 and 607) and Friedhof Ohlsdorf (170 and 270). There is a P + R car park in the immediate vicinity of the train station .
history
Among other things, to connect the Ohlsdorf cemetery , the end point of the extension of the so-called connecting line of the Hamburg-Altona city and suburban railway was chosen and the station, today the S-Bahn station, opened on December 5, 1906. The station building was built between 1904 and 1907 according to plans by Henry Grell in a country house style. From 1912 to 1914 the construction of the first platform of the Hamburger Hochbahn station directly to the west was carried out, and it was put into operation on December 1, 1914. In 1916/17 a second platform was added for the new Langenhorn Railway in the direction of Ochsenzoll . Because of the First World War , this new Hamburg state railway to Langenhorn was initially put into operation provisionally with steam locomotives and wagons on January 5, 1918, and only opened for electrical operation in 1921. From 1926, there were also an increasing number of through trains, so that there was no need to change trains coming from Ochsenzoll in Ohlsdorf towards the city center. In 1937 both platforms of the underground were joined, which explains the great width and the spaced-apart platform roofs of today's underground platform. The track systems were also simplified and sweeping tracks were dismantled.
Also until January 1918, the urban and suburban railway, which later became the S-Bahn, was extended as the Alstertalbahn via Ohlsdorf to Poppenbüttel . Benzene railcars were initially used here until 1920, as not enough copper was available for overhead lines in the post-war period of World War I.
Between 1953 and 1955 the station was rebuilt - among other things, the counter hall of the subway was redesigned. In 1962, a new sweeping track system was created north of the underground station, so that (to this day) trains can stop here during rush hour . From 1984 to 1986, a route control center was built for the underground on the wide platform of the underground.
Since 2000
In 2001, the underground portion was renovated the station, he was for 6.9 million German marks designed wheelchair accessible with ramps and lifts.
The renovation of the S-Bahn part took place with and after the opening of the S-Bahn to the airport . Since then, the S1 line has been divided here: The front, three-car section of the six-car trains continues to the airport, the three rear cars are uncoupled and go to Poppenbüttel. In this context, an elevator was also retrofitted on the S-Bahn, which was put into operation in 2011. To do this, the signal box at the S-Bahn station had to be demolished. The replacing electronic signal box Ofs south of the train station, which is responsible for the S-Bahn tracks between Barmbek , Poppenbüttel and the airport, was put into operation in September 2008.
Structure and location
The Ohlsdorf stop is in an elevated position, the S-Bahn part of the station a little higher than the U-Bahn part. There is a connecting track between the S-Bahn / Deutsche Bahn and the U-Bahn, but it has no busbars. It also leads to a construction underground station south of the station. The elevated railway can handle building materials here. This track is also connected to the Hamburg freight bypass . New underground trains can also be delivered in this way.
The station abbreviation of Hamburger Hochbahn AG (U-Bahn) for Ohlsdorf is "OH".
