history

The stop is on the Langenhorn Railway , which was built by the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg as the "State Railway" and was initially provisionally opened on January 5, 1918. At that time a provisional platform was used on the freight track. In July 1921, the actual train station on the east side of Tangstedter Landstrasse was opened, at that time it was still called "Langenhorn Mitte". The station building was designed in a similar style to Fuhlsbüttel and, like the latter, had the only access a fixed staircase at the north end of the platform. From the upper end of the stairwell, a closed bridge leads over the inner-city track to the reception building on Tangstedter Landstrasse, where the counter area with the barriers was also located. Ticket sales at the counter were supplemented in the 1960s by several ticket machines for different price levels, which were replaced by two surcharge ticket machines at the end of the 1970s. The platform was extended to the south so that trains with eight cars could run. After a shopping center with a weekly market was built on Krohnstieg in 1966 , the station was renamed "Langenhorn Markt" on June 2, 1969. Around 1970 the platform was again lengthened a little, as 9-car trains of the type DT3 were now used on the U1 line . For a long time, the ticket office served as a sales point for tokens and the issuing of season tickets (service point in the HVV ).

At the beginning of the 1970s, the Krohnstieg was expanded into a four-lane main road as part of the development of Ring 3. In this context, the road bridge over the railroad tracks was also renewed. 1973 Krohnstieg bridge over the train tracks one was on the north side P + R - parking garage built. The platform was extended in a northerly direction to under the Krohnstieg Bridge and provided there with another exit with an escalator and elevator , which also leads to the parking garage. In addition, the previously only exit, which was now more in the middle of the platform, was renewed. Another escalator leading upwards was installed north of the pedestrian bridge to the station building.

The Langenhorn freight station northeast of the underground station , which was located between the freight track and Tangstedter Landstrasse and whose tracks could only be approached from the north, was gradually dismantled. The "railway official Rollfuhr" of the forwarding company Fritz Gieseler, which used this station as a connection point, switched to the Ochsenzoll freight yard until this was also shut down.

Due to a blockage due to construction work on the Langenhorn subway line, two sweeping tracks were built south of the platform in 2013 , which make it possible to let a train run from the track leading out of town on the platform via this track change back to the city center.
