Ben Shedd

Ben Shedd (* 20th century ) is an American film director , producer and screenwriter .

Life

Ben Shedd received his BA in 1968 from San Francisco State University and his Masters in 1973 from the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts .

In 1972 he started his career at PBS , where he was responsible for the science program Nova . He worked on the first season in 1972 and then worked from 1973 to 1976 as director, producer and writer for the next two seasons. For this work he received a Peabody Award .

In his career he made 33 films for science and school, including three IMAX productions. In addition to his work as a director, he worked as a professor at various universities, including the University of Southern California, the California Institute of the Arts , the Art Center College of Design , Boise State University and Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.

In 1979 he received the Oscar for the short documentary The Flight of the Gossamer Condor .
