Bethany Hall-Long (born November 12, 1963 in Sussex County , Delaware ) is an American politician . In 2016 she was elected Lieutenant Governor of the State of Delaware.

Career

Bethany Hall Long studied at the Thomas Jefferson University near Philadelphia Health and Nursing (Nursing). She later continued her education in the same field at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston . She then studied public policy at George Mason University . She later worked in various branches of health and nursing. She rose to the position of acting head of the respective faculty (Interim Director, School of Nursing) at the University of Delaware .

Politically, she joined the Democratic Party . Between 2003 and 2009 she sat in the Delaware House of Representatives and from 2009 she was a member of the State Senate . In 2016 she was elected the new lieutenant governor of her state. So she is the successor of 2015 resigned Matthew P. Denn . In this capacity she is Deputy Governor John C. Carney, also elected in 2016, and Chair of the State Senate. She officially took office on January 17, 2017.
