Career highlights and awards

Brandon Kemar Browner (* 2. August 1984 in Los Angeles , California ) is a former American American football player at the position of the cornerbacks . He played in both the Canadian Football League (CFL) and the National Football League (NFL) and won the Gray Cup and the Super Bowl twice .

Youth and college

Browner's great athletic talent was already evident in high school . He not only played football in various positions, but also excelled as a track and field athlete . He attended Oregon State University and successfully played college football for their team, the Beavers . He has received numerous awards and has been accepted into various selection teams.

NFL and CFL

Denver Broncos

Despite his success, he was not considered in the 2005 NFL Draft , but was then signed by the Denver Broncos as a free agent . At a preparatory game in the preseason , he broke his left arm and had to fit the entire season. He was released in July 2006.

Calgary Stampeders

Since his NFL career seemed to be over before it really started, he accepted an offer from the Calgary Stampeders and played Canadian football very successfully for the next four seasons . In 2008 he and his team even won the Gray Cup , the championship of the Canadian Football League.

Seattle Seahawks

In 2011 he was signed by the Seattle Seahawks , was able to prevail immediately and was a starter in all games .

In 2012, after testing positive for amphetamine , he received a four-game suspension.

In 2013, Browner was again suspended for drug abuse , initially for an indefinite period. So he could not take part in Super Bowl XLVIII , which his team won. After the end of the season, the suspension was shortened to four more games.

New England Patriots

A few days later he was signed by the New England Patriots , served his suspension and had to wait two more games for his first appearance. After that he was used as a starter in all other matches . So also in the Super Bowl XLIX , which he was able to win with the Patriots against his former team.

New Orleans Saints

In March 2015 he was signed by the New Orleans Saints , who immediately began to rebuild the defense after the end of the disappointing season . At the beginning of the season, his teammates chose him and Cameron Jordan as the two team captains of the defense. During the season, Browner caused 24 penalties, 21 of which were accepted. In doing so, he broke the record of Chester Pitts , who incurred twenty-two penalties against the Houston Texans in 2003 . Counting penalties for individual players has been done since 1999. He was released by the Saints on March 10, 2016.

Seattle Seahawks

He signed a one-year contract with his old team, the Seattle Seahawks , on April 17th . Here he was supposed to play as a hybrid safety (deployment as safety and linebacker ), but was dismissed on August 29, 2016 as part of the first squad downsizing during the preseason .

Sentencing and imprisonment

After breaking the law in 2017 over cocaine possession, Browner was arrested in July 2018 after breaking into an ex-girlfriend, trying to steal a Rolex and strangling the woman. In December 2018, he was sentenced to eight years in prison for attempted murder.
