as a trainer

Brian Flores (* 24. February 1981 in Brooklyn , New York ) is an American American football trainer. He is the head coach of the Miami Dolphins in the National Football League (NFL). Before that, he spent fifteen years as a scout and coach with the New England Patriots , with whom he won the Super Bowl four times .

Life

Flores is the son of Honduran immigrants. He grew up with four brothers in a council flat in the New York neighborhood of Brownsville , one of the most criminal and poorest areas in New York. He graduated from high school at Prep Country Day in Brooklyn, a private high school that reserved some places for athletes from low-income households.

After high school , Flores went to Boston College , where he received an academic scholarship based on good grades. There he also played as a linebacker from 1999 to 2003 . Due to a torn muscle of the quadriceps , the surgery had missed Flores a career in the NFL.

Flores is married and has two sons and a daughter.

Career

After college, Flores joined the New England Patriots in 2004 as a talent scout. In 2008 he switched to the coaching sector, initially as an assistant in the special teams and then also in offense and defense. In 2012 he was Safeties -Coach. In 2016 he moved to the same position with the linebackers. In 2018, Flores took over the announcement of the moves for the defensive and was thus de facto defensive coordinator , without officially carrying this title. With the Patriots, Flores won the Super Bowls XXXIX , XLIX , LI and LIII .

In February 2019, Flores was introduced as the new Head Coach of the Miami Dolphins . His first season as head coach was not necessarily crowned with success: The first seven games in a row were lost, in the end 5 wins were compared to 11 defeats. Thus ended the season in last place in the AFC East .
