Breanna Mackenzie Stewart (born August 27, 1994 in Syracuse , New York ) is an American basketball player . She has been a member of the Women's National Basketball Association for Seattle Storm since 2016 and is considered a very versatile player who can be used in various playing positions.

Career

Raised in North Syracuse , New York State, Stewart played for the Connecticut Huskies from 2012 to 2016 . During this time she not only won the NCAA Division I Basketball Championship every year , but was also named best player in the Final Four ( NCAA Tournament Division I Most Outstanding Player ) every time - no other player had received this award more than twice before . She also received the Wade Trophy in 2015 and 2016 and the James E. Sullivan Award in 2016 . During those four years, the Huskies won a total of 151 of their 156 games, including the last 75 in a row. Stewart also won the title with the US national team at the 2014 World Cup .

In the 2016 WNBA Draft , she was selected first by Seattle Storm . In her debut season , during which she also won the gold medal with the USA at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , Stewart was immediately the player with the most points and rebounds on the team. For the first time since 2013, Seattle reached the play-off round, but was eliminated in the first round. At the end of the season she was awarded the WNBA Rookie of the Year Award for her achievements . After the WNBA season, Stewart played in China for Shanghai Baoshan Dahua .
