Briesnitz with Stetzsch, Kemnitz, Leutewitz and Altomsewitz is a statistical district in the Dresden district of Cotta . It is located northwest of the city center on the left or old town side of the Elbe.
location
The statistical district Briesnitz is bounded in the north and west by Cossebaude / Mobschatz / Oberwartha . Gompitz / Altfranken and Gorbitz -Nord / Neuomsewitz and Gorbitz-Ost border in the southwest and south . Its eastern neighbor is the statistical district of Cotta . In the northeast, the Elbe separates Briesnitz from Mickten and Kaditz .
In addition to the Elbe, the boundaries of the district are formed by the western city limits of Dresden, which existed until 1997 and 1999, and sections of Gompitzer, Lise-Meitner, Steinbacher, Gottfried-Keller and Warthaer Straße. Briesnitz is located on the western edge of the Elbe valley mainly below and partly on the ascent to the Meißner highlands .

The statistical district includes the districts Briesnitz , Leutewitz , Stetzsch and Kemnitz as well as the northern part of the district Omsewitz (Altomsewitz) with Burgstädtel . Small outlying areas of the Cotta district are also included. It is divided into the following six statistical districts :

The Elbe bridge of the A4 is located in the area of the statistical district Briesnitz . The Dresden-Altstadt junction is at the intersection with the B6 . The B6, which is called Meißner Landstraße here, is the most important road in the district as an entry and exit road in the direction of Meißen . Merbitzer and Warthaer Straße branch off from here as further main roads to the west.
In the south of the statistical district is the tram terminus Leutewitz, where lines 1 and 12 begin. In addition, Briesnitz has a total of 34 bus stops. In addition to the DVB connections, Dresden regional traffic will also pass through it. There are also two stops on the Berlin – Dresden railway line in the district . Briesnitz is therefore well connected to public transport .
