Bruce Eugene Westerman (born November 18, 1967 in Hot Springs , Arkansas ) is an American politician . He has represented the state of Arkansas in the US House of Representatives since 2015 .

Career

Bruce Westerman attended Fountain Lake High School in his hometown of Hot Springs until 1986 . He then studied until 1990 at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville . He graduated from Yale University in 2001 . There he studied forestry. He has been working in this field since 1992. He worked as a forest engineer for the Mid-South Engineering Company . Politically, he joined the Republican Party . From 2006 to 2010 he was a member of the school board of his former school, Fountain Lake High School ; between 2010 and 2014 he was a member of the Arkansas House of Representatives .

In the congressional elections of 2014 Westerman was the fourth constituency of Arkansas in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC chosen, where he succeeded his party colleague on January 3, 2015 Tom Cotton took that in the same election to the US Senate elected was. In Congress , Westerman serves on the Natural Resources, Budget and Science and Space Committees. Re-elected in 2016, he will also serve in the 115th Congress of the United States , which will meet on January 3, 2017 . Its new legislative period runs until January 3, 2019.
