Bryan Fogel
Bryan Fogel (* early 1970s in Denver , Colorado ) is an American dramaturge , director , screenwriter and film producer who became internationally known for the cinema production Jewtopia .
life and career
Bryan Fogel, born in Denver, Colorado to David and Linda Fogel's three children, graduated from East High School and the University of Colorado Boulder . Together with Sam Wolfson he developed and wrote the play Jewtopia , an off-Broadway comedy. The play premiered in Los Angeles in 2003 and ran in over 300 performances, after which the play moved to the off-Broadway Westside theater in New York in 2004, where it ran for more than three years and made over a thousand appearances until closure in April 2007. Jewtopia holds the record for being the play with the longest and fastest amortized productions in off-Broadway history.
In 2012 Bryan Fogel made his directorial debut as a feature film director with the film adaptation of Jewtopia . He also acted as a screenwriter and executive producer on the film. Jennifer Love Hewitt , Crystal Reed and Peter Stormare played the leading roles . The film was shown as the opening feature at the Malibu Film Fest .
Together with Sam Wolfson, Fogel is also the author of the bestseller Jewtopia: The Chosen Guide for the Chosen People . The book was published by the Hachette Book Group. In 2009 Fogel also had a short guest appearance as an actor in the cinema production Die Jagd zum Magischen Berg .
His second film, Icarus , in which he exposes the Russian doping system, won an Oscar for best documentary in 2018.
