The Bucks County is a county in the US state of Pennsylvania . At the 2010 census , the county had 625,249 residents and a population density of 397.5 people per square kilometer. The county seat is Doylestown .

Bucks County is part of the Delaware Valley metropolitan area .

The county is located in the northern suburbs of the city of Philadelphia on the Delaware River , which forms the border with New Jersey to the east . Bucks County covers an area of ​​1,611 square kilometers, of which 38 square kilometers are water. It borders on the following counties:

history

W. Penn

Bucks County was founded by William Penn on March 10, 1682 as one of three original Pennsylvania counties and originally named after his home town of Buckinghamshire . Penn lived in the county.

At the Buckingham Friends Meeting House ( Historic American Buildings Survey , after 1933). This Quaker meeting house is one of nine locations in the county with National Historic Landmark status.

Nine locations in the county have National Historic Landmark status . 159 buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of July 20, 2018).

The racial the population was composed of 89.2 percent white, 3.6 percent African American, 0.2 percent Native American, 3.8 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 1.7 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any of the above mentioned groups were 4.3 percent of the population.
