Carina Christensen (born November 8, 1972 in Fredericia ) is a Danish entrepreneur and politician of the Conservative People's Party . From 2006 to 2011 she was Minister in the Cabinets Fogh Rasmussen II , III and Løkke Rasmussen I , initially for families and consumer protection , from 2007 as Minister of Transport and from 2008 to 2010 as Minister of Culture .

Life

Carina Christensen was born in 1972 as the daughter of furniture manufacturer Egon Jelling Christensen and his wife Jette Christensen. In 1991 she graduated from Middelfart High School . In 1998 she completed her studies in economics and languages ​​at the Syddansk Universitet in Odense .

In addition to her studies, she worked from 1997 as an assistant to the Conservative MPs in the European Parliament Poul Schlüter , Christian Rovsing and Frode Kristoffersen . She then worked in the Brussels office of the Funen Office. Since 2001 she has worked for the furniture manufacturer Rugballe Møbelfabrik A / S in Middelfart .

In November of the same year she was elected to the Folketing for the first time , and at the same time also to the District Council of the Funen Office. In 2005 she was elected to the Regional Council of the Region of Southern Denmark , established in 2007 . She resigned this mandate when she was appointed Minister for Family and Consumer Protection on December 15, 2006 as the successor to Lars Barfoed . She did not even hold this office for a year when she succeeded her fellow party member Flemming Hansen as Transport Minister in the course of a cabinet reshuffle . As such, she signed the State Treaty on the construction of a bridge over the Fehmarnbelt with her German counterpart Wolfgang Tiefensee . When all Conservative ministers changed chairs after the resignation of the party chairman and Minister of Economics Bendt Bendtsen in September 2008, Carina Christensen became Minister of Culture , succeeding Brian Mikkelsen .

In 2010/11 Christensen was temporarily political spokeswoman for the Conservatives, then she missed her re-election to parliament.
