society
Hoefkens started his career in his hometown at Lierse SK . There he joined the professional squad in 1996 and was able to win his first national title at the end of the season. In 1999, the final of the Belgian Cup was reached against Standard Liège . Here the team prevailed 3-1. After five years, Hoefkens decided to move to league rivals SK Lommel . The defender has had a tough time in the first division. For the second half of the 2002/03 season, the club's license was withdrawn due to lack of funds and all games were canceled. As early as February 2003, Hoegkens drew the conclusions from this and signed with KVC Westerlo before joining Germinal Beerschot Antwerp in the summer . With Germinal he won the Belgian Cup for the second time in 2004/05, with a 2-1 win against Club Bruges . Before the start of the following season, Bruges retaliated and retained the upper hand in the Supercup game. Because of his good performance during this time, Hoefkens became a crowd favorite. In the summer of 2005, Stoke City grabbed the free transfer defender and moved him to England. He made his debut for the new club on August 6, 2005 in a 0-0 draw against Sheffield Wednesday . Hoefkens became a regular player and service provider. As in Antwerp, he delighted the fans at Stoke and was voted the fan favorite for the 2005/06 season. During the following year he surprised spectators and city officials when he was able to convince as an outside and midfielder. During the winter break, the Belgian record champions FC Brugge showed interest in the Belgian international at the time. However, there was no change. It was not until the summer of 2007 that the English second division West Bromwich Albion secured the services of Hoefkens. There he signed a two-year contract with an option for another season. He also prevailed at the Baggies and was in the team's starting line-up on the first day of the 2007/08 season. After his first year at West Bromwich, the team reached first place and thus direct promotion to the Premier League . On the first day of the new season, on August 16, 2008, Hoefkens made his debut in the Premier League against Arsenal . The game was lost 0-1. After he still had a regular seat in the previous year, Hoefkens found himself increasingly on the bench. After his contract expired, Hoefkens was temporarily without a club in 2009. Then he joined Club Bruges and was active for one season at Lierse SK. From summer 2014 he was in the squad of KV Oostende , where he had signed a one-year contract. After a season in which he made 18 league appearances and one goal, he ended his career in the 2015/16 season at Manchester 62 FC in the Gibraltar Eurobet Division and then ended his career as a professional footballer.
