After the 2006 World Cup, Salcido left Club Deportivo Guadalajara and signed a four-year contract until 2010 with the Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven . There he was part of the regular formation from the start. He scored his first goal for Eindhoven on November 18, 2006 with a long-range shot against Excelsior Rotterdam . The game ended 4-0 for PSV. He played in all 33 league games from the start and also played in the first team in the UEFA Champions League . In his first Champions League season he reached second place in Group C with PSV in front of Girondins Bordeaux and Galatasaray Istanbul and qualified via Arsenal London for the quarter-finals, where you beat Liverpool FC , which you already had in the preliminary round Group victory had to be left with 0: 1 and 0: 3 without a chance.

In the following seasons PSV went a little downhill. In the 2007/08 UEFA Champions League, for example, they said goodbye after the preliminary round, but at least came third in the UEFA Cup , where PSV were eliminated in the quarter-finals against Fiorentina . In the following Champions League season it was only enough to finish last in the group with just one win against Olympique Marseille . The previous series champion PSV (2005-2008) has also lost its dominance in the local Eredivisie and recently only finished 4th (2009) and 3rd (2010).

For the 2010/11 season Salcido signed for 3 years with Fulham FC .

National team

Salcido made his debut in the Mexican national team on September 8, 2004 in Trinidad, where Mexico's selection brought in a 3-1 victory.

In 2005 Salcido helped the Mexican national team to 4th place in the Confederations Cup , where he played through every game of the team from start to finish. In the semi-finals of the Cup on June 26, 2005, he scored his first international goal after a long solo against Argentina in extra time. Such rapid and aggressive advances are a hallmark of Salcido.

At the 2006 World Cup in Germany, Salcido was one of six Deportivo Guadalajara players who were appointed to the Mexico national team on April 2, 2006 by then coach Ricardo La Volpe . He was in every game in Mexico from the start and performed well throughout. His strong commitment, his defensive serenity and his courageous offensive advances on the left were particularly noticeable.

In June 2007 Salcido took part with the Mexican national team in the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup , in which Mexico finished second after losing the final to the USA. In the tournaments for the Copa América 2007 and the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2009 , he did not play because he was playing competitive games for PSV at that time.

At the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, he was used in all preliminary round matches and in the round of 16.

On May 31, 2012, he made his 100th international match against Bosnia and Herzegovina .

In the summer of 2012 he took part - as one of three older players and the only player ever with more than 100 international matches - with the Olympic team at the Olympic Games in London , where Mexico won the gold medal for the first time.
