Crispin McDougal Freeman (born February 9, 1972 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American voice actor who is best known for his speaking roles in anime .

Life

Crispin Freeman is the oldest of three siblings, he also has a brother, the musician Clark Freeman, and a sister, the actress Cassidy Freeman . All three siblings attended the Latin School of Chicago , which he graduated in 1990. Freeman then attended Williams College , which he finished in 1994 with a bachelor's degree in theater . After college, he attended Columbia University , where he graduated in 1997 with a Master of Fine Arts in drama .

Then Freeman played in various theaters, including on Broadway in New York City or in the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles .

He had his breakthrough as a voice actor for anime in 1995 in the role of Zelgadis Greywords in the anime series Slayers . Since then, Freeman has had speaking roles in many internationally known anime series and films, such as that of the vampire Alucard in Hellsing , Kyon in Suzumiya Haruhi no Yūutsu , Togusa in Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex or Jeremiah Gottwald in Code Geass .

Crispin Freeman has been married to Izobel Carol since August 11, 2007 and speaks fluent Spanish in addition to his mother tongue.
