Dú Maroc (born August 21, 1985 in Frankfurt am Main ; bourgeois Mimoun Alaoui, Arabic : ميمون علوي) is a German rapper with Moroccan roots.

biography

Dú Maroc was born and raised in Frankfurt, in the social hotspot Sossenheim. He is of Berber descent from Morocco. Most of his youth was spent trying to achieve his dream - a career as a professional footballer. He had to say goodbye to this dream shortly before his Bundesliga debut when he sustained a serious injury during training and a professional career was no longer an option. Dú Maroc practiced martial arts parallel to football, which he continues to this day. After it was clear that his football career would not work, he completed a commercial apprenticeship and began to rap , inspired by his childhood friend SadiQ . When his talent was first recognized by many Frankfurt rap stars, Dú Maroc knew that there was potential for more. His criminal past is often part of his texts. In Frankfurt, Dú Maroc did voluntary work, such as the organization of football boarding schools, to get young people off the streets.

Since early 2012 the rapper is the label of Baba Saad scoundrels band under contract. On May 11, 2012 Dú Maroc released his debut album Narkotic with his label partner SadiQ . Baba Saad was also featured on the album. Narkotic reached number 53 in the German album charts in the first week. Baba Saad and the two Frankfurt rappers separated again in September 2012. He and SadiQ founded the Block Bladi Gangsta label, whereby Dú Maroc announced via Facebook after a short time that he and SadiQ's musical careers are diverging, but that they will remain friends.

At the beginning of 2013 Dú Maroc released the song "One Touch" as a single with the Frankfurt rapper / singer Jonesmann . The publication made a lot of headlines as footballers like Jerome Boateng, Änis Ben Hatira and coach Jürgen Klopp made cameo appearances in the video. The single is the soundtrack to a social project called MitternachtsSport eV in Berlin, which gets young people off the street and gets them to play football. The video was published on YouTube via aggro.tv and all proceeds will be donated to Mitternachtssport eV. The single was released as a download and CD on March 1st via Dú MG / Distributionz .

The first solo album by Dú Maroc Block Bladi Gentleman was released on May 24, 2013 via Dú MG / Distributionz . The album climbed to number 57 in the German album charts, which were determined by Media Control.

In 2013, Dú Maroc and his partner SadiQ played a role in the television show Private Detectives in Action .

In addition, Dú Maroc had an appearance in March 2014 on the program Forum Demokratie on the Phoenix broadcaster .
