DeeDee Trotter (actually: De'Hashia Tonnek Trotter ; born December 8, 1982 in Twentynine Palms ) is a former American sprinter . She is two-time relay Olympic champion and two-time relay world champion.

Career

Trotter currently lives in Knoxville , where she attends the University of Tennessee and also celebrated her first successes in the 200 and 400 meters in 2002. She gained international fame by winning the 4 x 400 meter relay at the 2003 World Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis .

She celebrated her greatest success so far at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , where she won the gold medal together with Monique Henderson , Sanya Richards and Monique Hennagan in the 4 x 400 meter relay, ahead of the teams from Russia (silver) and Jamaica (Bronze). At the same event, she finished fifth in the 400-meter run . A month later, at the IAAF championships in Monaco , she took third place over 400 meters and on July 1, 2005 in Saint-Denis near Paris, she took sixth place at the Gaz de France meeting .

At the World Championships in Helsinki in 2005 , she was fifth over 400 meters, as well as at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka . With the 4 x 400 meter relay, she could no longer start at the 2005 World Championships, as it was subsequently disqualified as the fastest in the semifinals due to a faulty substitution. At the 2007 World Championships in Osaka , she was again fifth and won gold with the relay.

In 2012 she ran at the Olympic Games in London in the final of the 400-meter run for a bronze medal and won the gold medal with the 4-by-400-meter relay made up of Deedee Trotter, Allyson Felix, Francena McCorory and Sanya Richards-Ross .
