Rita Kühne (born January 5, 1947 in Dresden ) is a former German athlete and Olympic champion .

In 1971 and 1972, Rita Kühne, who trained at SC Dynamo Berlin , was elected Team of the Year in the GDR with the GDR national relay in the 4 x 400 meter run .

From 1969 to 1973 and 1975 she won the 4 x 400 meter relay race at the GDR athletics championships with the club team. In the individual competition over 400 meters she won silver in 1968 and 1973 and bronze in 1971 and 1975. The indoor championships over 400 meters she won four times in a row from 1966 to 1969 and again in 1971. In the same year she was eighth in 53.9 s at the European Championships in 1971 in the 400-meter run . With the relay team consisting of Rita Kühne, Ingelore Lohse , Helga Seidler and Monika Zehrt , she won the European title in a world record time of 3: 29.3 minutes.

At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich , she won the gold medal in the 4 x 400 meter relay, together with her teammates Dagmar Käsling , Helga Seidler and Monika Zehrt. After the quartet had already set a new world record with 3: 28.48 minutes, it improved this mark again in the final to 3: 22.95 minutes.

Rita Kühne had a competition weight of 65 kg with a height of 1.76 m. She set her personal best of 51.01 s over 400 meters in 1976.
